Ciklum is looking for an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer to join our team full-time in Poland.
We are a custom product engineering company that supports both multinational organizations and scaling startups to solve their most complex business challenges. With a global team of over 4,000 highly skilled developers, consultants, analysts and product owners, we engineer technology that redefines industries and shapes the way people live.
About the role:
As an Expert Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning Engineer, become a part of a cross-functional development team engineering experiences of tomorrow. Client builds software for biopharmaceutical process development and manufacturing. The client suite combines AI, mechanistic modeling, and bioprocess expertise to build predictive digital twins for process understanding, optimization, and better decision-making. They are building a SaaS platform where reliability, maintainability, reproducibility, and scientific value matter.
Responsibilities:
Productionizing proven work from Process Model Scientists into maintainable ML code
Integrating ML and hybrid models into production workflows
Improving ML codebase structure so future use cases are faster to build
Designing reusable abstractions for repeated modeling patterns
Implementing feature transformations and supporting feature design with Process Model Scientists
Building internal tools or frameworks when they reduce repeated work, for example reporting, evaluation, or validation utilities
Proposing new ML ideas, libraries, interchangeable modules, or architecture improvements when they can make Process Model Scientist work faster, safer, or easier to reuse
Implementing model-related fixes without degrading core scientific or business metrics
Supporting regression analysis when model behavior, training results, feature behavior, or inference outputs change
Debugging failed Flyte runs when the issue is related to model code, application logic, dependencies, or execution behavior
Collaborating with the team when issues cross into orchestration, artifacts, experiment tracking, or platform behavior
Helping Process Model Scientists move faster by reducing the amount of software engineering work they need to do themselves
Requirements:
Strong Python and software engineering skills
Experience building maintainable production code for ML, AI, or model-driven applications
Good understanding of ML workflows: training, evaluation, inference, validation, and regression risks
Experience with ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, JAX, or similar
Ability to reason about feature transformations, model behavior, validation logic, metrics, and scientific constraints
Familiarity with ML workflow, experimentation, and scalable training tools such as Flyte, Kubeflow, MLflow, Ray, Optuna, or similar
Understanding of systems design in software. You do not need to own the whole platform, but you should be able to reason about what Process Model Scientists need from the ML codebase and platform
Technical maturity to standardize modeling code when possible, regardless of the specific framework being used
Ability to bring useful new ideas, libraries, and engineering practices to help Process Model Scientists move faster
High autonomy: understands unclear problems, proposes solutions, pushes back when needed, and improves the system instead of only executing tasks
Ability to work remotely with at least 4 hours of overlap with CET working hours
B.S. in Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, AI Engineering, Machine Learning, Data Science with strong model/metrics focus, or a closely related technical field
