Job description: Summary
Seeking a passionate individual with strong knowledge of music and a love for working with kids. An ideal candidate has teaching experience working with young 1 to 13 years, is energetic and flexible, and has a background in one or all practices of music, dance, and theater. Classroom management is a must.
Building Kidz's vision is to empower children to become strong and confident individuals through our performing arts program. Kids perform one recital and one spring musical annually. Expanding our quality team will help to make that happen
Duties
Teaching music to groups of young kids from 1 to age 13. Classes range from 20-30 minutes.
Ability to promote a feeling of security and trust in children by being warm, supportive, and comforting.
Are enthusiastic and passionate about working with young children.
Curriculum development and lesson planning.
Able to effectively collaborate with other performing arts staff to plan two imaginative show productions a year, including but not limited to music, dance, theater, set design, and costume design.
Ability to work well harmoniously in a multi-cultural team.
Perform additional duties as assigned by Performing Arts Director and Site Director.
Applicants will undergo a thorough background check, TB testing, and fingerprinting.
Requirements
18 years or older.
Ability to read music and arrange sheet music for rehearsals.
Knowledge of instruments such as drums, tambourines, choral bells, xylophone, maracas, and keyboard.
ECE Credentials are strongly preferred.
Minimum 2-3 years formal training in one or all of the following practices: music, dance, and theater.
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience preferred but not required.
Experience in developing and teaching music/theater numbers utilizing different types of instruments and techniques preferred.
Willing to obtain CPR, 1st Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Food Handlers card & proof of MMR.
Willing to obtain 30 Basic STARS hours within 3 months of hire. Ability to pass Criminal Background check from WA State.
