Pond & Company is an award-winning firm specializing in architecture, engineering, planning, construction management, and environmental services. They are seeking a mid-level Fire Protection Engineer to join their design team, focusing on the design and production of fire protection engineering project construction documents under the supervision of Senior Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Fire Protection Engineering design lead on projects
- This includes making Fire Protection Engineering design decisions on suppression systems, fire alarm systems, mass notification systems, and assisting Architecture with Life Safety design
- Performs accurate, legible and well thought out design calculations
- Coordinates Fire Protection Engineering design with other disciplines; highlighting design components that will impact the other discipline's design so that the overall design is constructable without conflict
- Attends project kick off meetings and coordination meetings
- Works independently with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative
- Performs assigned tasks in accordance with company QC procedures
- Communicates with clients as needed and defined by project
- Contacts clients and/or contractors as needed on specific jobs
- Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work
- Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
Skills
- 2-5 years' experience with an EIT license, working towards a PE license in Fire Protection Engineering
- Bachelor's degree (BS) from a four-year college or university in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- 4+ years related experience and/or training
- Engineer-In-Training license required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet Apps
- Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work
- Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally
- Professional Engineer license preferred
- Revit/AutoCAD/BIM preferred but can be trained
