They are seeking a Payroll Accountant II who will be responsible for the accounting duties related to the payroll function, including financial accounting, regulatory compliance, and internal controls.
Responsibilities
- Prepare journal entries to record transactions related to the payroll process as well as reconcile financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
- Maintain mappings between payroll systems and general ledgers
- Create and generate custom reports for requested data to internal and external recipients
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and standards
- Stay current with changes in accounting policies and regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Develop and apply continuous improvement techniques and methods to internal processes and systems
- Analyze data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement
- Lead and coordinate special projects
- Collaborate with internal and external auditors during audits
- Participate in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures
- Provide training and support to junior payroll staff as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience
- In-depth knowledge of payroll process and relevant laws
- Basic accounting knowledge, including understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and payroll software (e.g., UKG) is a plus
