Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Russell Tobin is a staffing agency that is currently seeking a Senior SQL and Power BI Developer for a government agency. The role involves developing Power BI dashboards, designing SQL database solutions, and maintaining ETL processes to ensure high-quality data management.
Responsibilities
• Develop Power BI dashboards using advanced DAX, Power Query, data modeling, and performance optimization techniques
• Design, build, and optimize SQL database solutions using PL/SQL and T/SQL
• Develop and maintain ETL processes using Azure Data Factory and other ETL tools
• Create interactive Power BI reports with row-level security and user-friendly visualizations
• Perform data integration, transformation, and validation to ensure data quality and consistency
• Optimize SQL queries, indexing, and partitioning strategies for high-performance data processing
• Design and implement data warehouse models, including star and snowflake schemas with dimension hierarchies
• Utilize scripting languages such as Python and Shell for ETL automation and data manipulation
• Support data warehouse architecture, including data lakes, data marts, and staging environments
• Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and data handling standards
Skills
• Strong experience developing Power BI reports and dashboards using advanced DAX and Power Query
• Expertise in SQL, relational databases, and data modeling across Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MySQL
• Hands-on experience with ETL tools including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse, and SSIS
• Strong communication skills with the ability to gather business requirements and deliver impactful reporting solutions
• Experience with data integration, transformation, and maintaining data quality
• Proficiency in Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages for automation and data processing
• Solid understanding of enterprise data warehouse architecture, including data lakes, marts, and staging
• Knowledge of data security, governance, and compliance best practices
• Experience optimizing query performance, indexing, and partitioning strategies
• Ability to design and implement dimensional data models using star and snowflake schemas
