The Staff Data Engineer will play a crucial role in designing data solutions and optimizing data pipelines to analyze healthcare claims and clinical datasets, thereby driving innovation and improving organizational outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Work cross functionally to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions
- Design, build, and maintain robust data pipelines to support optimization and improvement of product development, sales, marketing techniques and business strategies
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
- Develop custom data models, pipelines, and architecture to apply to large-scale data sets
- Build scalable, reliable data infrastructure to optimize customer experiences, revenue generation, and other business outcomes
- Coordinate with different functional teams to implement data solutions and monitor pipeline performance
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze data pipeline performance, data quality, and data accuracy, including responsible AI practices
- Champion innovation in data engineering practices, evaluating and introducing new tools, architectures, and techniques to keep the organization at the leading edge
Skills
- Minimum of five (5) years experience building data pipelines and engineering large-scale data sets
- Advanced level SQL coding & query optimization
- Experience with healthcare data and standard UB/HCFA claim fields
- Experience with data pipelines and architecture in Snowflake on Cloud Platforms (strongly preferred)
- Experience using programming languages (Python, SQL, etc.) to build data pipelines and process large data sets
- Experience working with Java, Spark and/or Python
- Experience working in Project Management tools (Jira, Confluence)
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
- Drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques, with a passion for driving innovation
- Knowledge of modern data pipeline orchestration and ETL/ELT tools and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
- Knowledge of data architecture and modeling concepts (dimensional modeling, data warehousing, distributed systems, etc.) and experience with applications
- Experience in analytic report and dashboard development
