About AI Training Work
AI training (also called data labeling, annotation, or human feedback) is the human work that teaches models to produce accurate, safe, and helpful outputs. Tasks include rating responses, checking facts, and comparing multiple model answers to guide improvements.
This work is often fully remote, flexible, and accessible: many projects require language fluency, attention to detail, or domain knowledge rather than formal engineering experience, and contributors play a direct role in shaping next-generation AI.
The Role
OpenTrain is recruiting Tamil AI Response Evaluators for a remote, part-time contract role with OpenTrain. You will evaluate Tamil-language model outputs, judge reasoning and clarity, check factual claims, and provide structured, constructive feedback in English.
This is an RLHF-style evaluation role focused on qualitative ratings and written critique: you will compare multiple outputs, flag errors, and help set examples that improve future model behavior.
What You’ll Do
Perform careful, evidence-based evaluations of AI-generated Tamil text and rank or rate outputs according to supplied guidelines.
• Review Tamil responses for factual accuracy, completeness, clarity, tone, and reasoning quality.
• Compare multiple model outputs and make fine-grained qualitative judgments.
• Write nuanced feedback and explanations in clear written English.
• Flag factual errors, harmful or biased content, and areas needing clarification.
• Follow project-specific guidelines and use the provided labeling tool (OTHER).
Requirements
Candidates must meet all listed requirements; prior RLHF or model-evaluation experience is preferred but not mandatory.
• Native or bilingual fluency in Tamil (ta).
• Strong written English (en) for producing clear feedback.
• Bachelor’s degree.
• Significant experience using large language models and familiarity with their common failure modes.
• Comfort with fact-checking and evidence-based critique.
• High attention to detail and strong analytical judgment.
Schedule, Pay & Employment Type
This is a remote contract position with flexible scheduling. The role requires 20+ hours per week and is open to contributors worldwide.
Compensation is hourly at $15–$20 USD per hour. Employment is contractor, part-time.
• Weekly commitment: 20+ hours.
• Pay: $15–$20 / hour (USD).
• Employment: Contractor, Part-time.
• web-based tool provided by the project.
Who Should Apply & How It Works
This role suits entry-level to experienced evaluators who are native Tamil speakers with strong written English and experience interacting with LLMs. Prior annotation, RLHF, or model-evaluation work is a strong plus.
If selected you will be given project guidelines, access to the labeling interface, and example evaluations to calibrate your ratings. Your assessments and written feedback will be used to refine model outputs and training data.
• Ideal for people who enjoy language analysis, structured critique, and remote contract work.
• Apply and manage your work through the OpenTrain platform; contributions help shape real AI systems.
