UAS Maintenance Technician / Instructor (Level III) Permanent, full-time, on-site We're looking for an experienced UAS Maintenance Technician who can also teach. This is a hands-on role for someone who knows unmanned aircraft inside out, from the airframe to the avionics, and who can pass that knowledge on to the people coming up behind them. You'll work with a good degree of independence, keeping aircraft and their supporting systems airworthy, safe and mission-ready. When something goes wrong in the field, you're the person who sorts it. And when new technicians join, you're the one showing them how it's done properly. This is a permanent, full-time, on-site role. It's practical and deployment-based, so it isn't a remote or hybrid position. What You Will Be Doing • Ground handling of unmanned aircraft • UAV launch and recovery • Maintaining and troubleshooting aircraft systems and subsystems • Carrying out maintenance and repair on aircraft structures • Delivering training to new UAV maintenance technicians, and making sure they follow operational protocols and safety standards • Handling emergency situations calmly and correctly as they arise • Keeping standards high in the everyday work, not just on paper • Maintaining the equipment that supports each mission • Reading and interpreting equipment log reports • Diagnosing and resolving operational problems • Taking on other duties as the work requires What We Need • High school diploma or GED, and 5 to 7 years of relevant experience • A valid driver's licence • The ability to carry out routine and preventive maintenance on aircraft systems, subsystems and ground support equipment • Real experience diagnosing and troubleshooting engines, flight controls, avionics and associated system components • A solid understanding of rigging equipment and safe rigging techniques • Willingness to travel up to 75% CONUS and OCONUS • A current DoD Secret clearance that you can maintain, plus the ability to obtain and hold a DoD Top Secret clearance • Comfort driving a vehicle with a manual gearshift, which the role may require What Would Set You Apart • Military flight experience, which is highly valued • Experience on deployed UAS ISR operations • Composite, structural and mechanical repair experience A note on the physical side This is a physical role. With or without reasonable accommodation, you'll need to be able to tell wire and cable colours apart, move or lift items up to 100 lbs, and work at height. You'll also need to be able to obtain a DOT physical.
