The Accounting Manager plays a key leadership role in overseeing a team of Senior Accountants, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance for law firm clients while delivering advisory services and fostering a collaborative team culture.
Responsibilities
- Perform secondary and final review of client bookkeeping files prepared by Senior Accountants
- Identify and resolve errors, discrepancies, and open items prior to client delivery
- Approve draft financial statements for accuracy, completeness, and consistency
- Compile and deliver the monthly financial reporting package to clients
- Review and approve client trust (IOLTA) account reconciliations prior to client delivery
- Confirm trust accounting practices meet applicable compliance and regulatory standards, escalating any concerns
- Lead weekly 13-week cash flow forecasting for advisory clients
- Prepare monthly rolling forecasts and performance scorecards
- Lead client advisory meetings, providing analysis and commentary on financial results
- Manage the annual budgeting cycle, from setting targets and KPIs with the client through final budget approval
- Prepare and deliver ad hoc client deliverables in line with the relevant internal Playbooks
- Provide clear, constructive review feedback to Senior Accountants and other team members
- Delegate action items and monitor follow-through to ensure timely, high-quality output
- Support a collaborative team culture aligned with the firm’s core values
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA a plus
- 5+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, including time in a review, supervisory, or managerial capacity
- Proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks Online) and modern financial reporting tools
- Hands-on experience with advisory deliverables such as cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting
- Strong attention to detail with a proven ability to catch and resolve errors in financial data
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to deliver financial insights to non-financial audiences
- A track record of developing team members and holding them accountable
- Experience serving law firms or professional services clients strongly preferred; familiarity with trust/IOLTA accounting or complex reconciliations highly desirable
